OSAG is an online, underground program. It is illegal for girls to attend college. I’m not sure of what the cutoff is, but only young girls may go to school. The people want a Western style education, to learn English, and maintain contact with the outside world.
How did this get started? Through my regular networking, I came in contact with a former employee of the last US-backed government in Kabul. He worked in IT for the Health Ministry and also provided assistance to the US Military. He and his family were supposed to be evacuated and brought to the USA,
but the State Department reneged on that agreement. As the last of the U.S. military pulled out of Afghanistan and Kabul fell to the Taliban, he was in hiding and communicating with me via WhatsApp.
I covered the fall of Kabul on my blog. He is still in Kabul and works to try to improve conditions. He risks his life by teaching girls, plus he is marked for working for the previous government and assisting the U.S. If caught, the girls will be publicly beaten, at best, and he will be killed.
As for me, I am safe in Las Vegas
